schedinit_ap() sets up an AP for a later call to sched_throw(NULL). Currently, ULE sets up some pcpu bits and fixes the idlethread lock with a call to sched_throw(NULL); this results in a window where curthread is setup in platforms' init_secondary(), but it has the wrong td_lock. Typical platform AP startup procedure looks something like: - Setup curthread - ... other stuff, including cpu_initclocks_ap() - Signal smp_started - sched_throw(NULL) to enter the scheduler cpu_initclocks_ap() may have callouts to process (e.g., nvme) and attempt to sched_add() for this AP, but this attempt fails because of the noted violated assumption leading to locking heartburn in sched_setpreempt(). Interrupts are still disabled until cpu_throw() so we're not really at risk of being preempted -- just let the scheduler in on it a little earlier as part of setting up curthread. FreeBSD Source:
This is the top level of the FreeBSD source directory.
FreeBSD is an operating system used to power modern servers, desktops, and embedded platforms. A large community has continually developed it for more than thirty years. Its advanced networking, security, and storage features have made FreeBSD the platform of choice for many of the busiest web sites and most pervasive embedded networking and storage devices.
For copyright information, please see the file COPYRIGHT in this directory. Additional copyright information also exists for some sources in this tree - please see the specific source directories for more information.
The Makefile in this directory supports a number of targets for building components (or all) of the FreeBSD source tree. See build(7), config(8), FreeBSD handbook on building userland, and Handbook for kernels for more information, including setting make(1) variables.
